ŠPETLA FILM
Our authentic documentary approach lets us capture what matters. From a short portrait to a feature-length documentary, we find the way to tell your story so that it resonates.
We work with a small crew — and that is not a saving, it is a method. We get in where a large production would negotiate for weeks, and we shoot more in less time. We film in Czech and entirely in English. Our films have aired on Czech Television and Prima Zoom, screened in over forty cinemas, and been released on Steam, GOG and Czech VOD.
In production
We have several feature-length films in development, both our own and commissioned.

Where our films ended up
Our films do not stop at YouTube.
What is behind it
Every line below rests on an actual production, not on a claim.
A small crew, a big reach
We shot almost an hour of a scripted series for Warhorse Studios in six days — with Tom McKay and Luke Dale, the two leads from the game. With a crew of four. A small crew moves without street closures, films where a large production would negotiate for weeks, and builds its own sets. The budget then goes into what ends up on screen, not into the number of people on set.
Nothing waits in a queue
Filming, sound, editing and colour grading are all done in house — nothing goes out to subcontractors and nothing sits in a queue. That is why we can deliver fast. When building works and tree felling drowned out our location in Kutná Hora, we re-recorded the voiceovers on another day and the deadline held.
English without an interpreter
We make films in Czech and entirely in English, directing and interviews included — the Warhorse series was shot with British actors for a global audience. When a subject speaks a language we do not, we work with an interpreter: the documentary about the Brazilian Panará people was made through a Portuguese translator. We also deliver finished films in additional language versions.
Documentary and scripted work alike
Feature documentaries with festival awards, but also a scripted series with professional actors and commercials. The swordfighting duel we shot with Adorea won three awards at stunt and action film festivals.
We handle what cannot be moved
We shot the third episode in the Rudolfinum concert hall with roughly six hours available — in between recording sessions for the game score. No second takes, no running over. When the main camera died mid-shoot, we finished on the backup. We have never left a shooting day empty-handed.
The film does not end at delivery
For the documentary about a war veteran we arranged the release with the Czech Army ourselves, for Veterans Day — a quarter of a million people saw it. For The Walloon Trails we ran a crowdfunding campaign backed by 107 people, and the film is heading to cinemas and Czech VOD.
We have not stopped learning
We have taken courses from sound through to colour grading and hold official Blackmagic Design certifications for DaVinci Resolve. We are Panasonic Lumix ambassadors and keep our equipment current. And what we know, we teach — anyone explaining a subject has to understand it better than someone who merely uses it.
Clients keep coming back
A testimonial can be written after one job. Coming back years later cannot be faked.
Proud brand ambassadors
Our production is a proud ambassador for Panasonic Lumix and GGBooster.
