My name is Petr Špetla. My wife and I founded Špetla Film around the time our feature film Gravitation came into the world. It was there that our years of experience in the film and advertising industry finally came together. Filmmaking always struck me as the perfect symbiosis of everything I wanted from life — complete creative freedom, travel, and a momentum that is the opposite of monotonous routine.

We set great store by efficiency, both in time and in crew size. We keep our equipment current so that we always work with the best technology available, while choosing gear that stays compact and unobtrusive. Where conventional productions lose time arranging location permits and street closures, we keep moving and simply shoot. Nor do we ever approach a brief as blind executors. We do not work mechanically to a client’s first idea; we bring our own know-how to the concept and look for a bespoke solution, so that the finished film grips the viewer both visually and as a story.
We have taken a camera to many corners of the world. Our portfolio includes projects filmed in Spain, France, England, Greece and Serbia, as well as New York, Washington D.C., Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Fluent English means we feel at home abroad — we have made several films entirely in English and provided further language versions, including Spanish and Polish. Our work has not gone unnoticed at home either; among other things, I was a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year competition for the Hradec Králové Region.
Sharing what we know
We believe experience is worth passing on. We share our filmmaking know-how through online courses, e-books and workshops via our shop Svět v hledáčku. On our YouTube channel we regularly publish guides and reviews in close cooperation with leading manufacturers of film equipment, and our content is commonly featured by retailers such as Film-Technika, Megapixel, Centrum FotoŠkoda and Alza.

The finishing magic happens in post-production. We edit and colour grade in DaVinci Resolve, backed by official certifications from Blackmagic Design.
